Daikon Radish

Daikon or Japanese radish is a fast-growing non-wintering cruciferous plant. It is a great cover crop. It has a large and strong main root growing deep into the soil, which helps to reduce soil compaction. It binds nutrients from deeper soil layers. It grows large green foliage quickly, making it a good weed suppressor. Cruciferous cover crops reduce pathogens in the soil. Daikon is killed by constant cold temperatures. The plant rots in winter and leaves the soil loose. Its sowing rate is 50-70 g/100 m2.
