Buckwheat

Buckwheat is an annual and fast-growing crop. ‘Aiva’ with whitish pink flowers is an early and high-yielding variety.
Buckwheat is an excellent grain crop and honey plant. A useful cover crop because it suppresses weeds very well and keeps phosphorus available for the following crops. In addition, buckwheat does not have common diseases with common crops.
Buckwheat is a very good honey plant. Buckwheat honey is one of the most nutritious. Honey productivity approx. 100 kg/ha.
Plant height 85-100 cm.

Manual

Buckwheat is sensitive to frost, sow at the end of May or beginning of June after the danger of night frost has passed. As a cover crop, it is sown immediately after the early main crop (peas, beans, early potatoes) is ready and harvested. Mow or cut down buckwheat within a week and a half of the first flowering to avoid setting seed. After mowing or cutting, the buckwheat residue can either be left on the surface or turned into the soil. Mulch left on the surface will decompose and release nutrients more slowly, help maintain soil stability, and help suppress weeds. Residue that is turned into the soil will decompose and release nutrients more quickly.
